HOW DO I CLEAN MY STUDIO PIETER STOCKMANS COLLECTION?

For porcelain shades, use a soft rag with diluted clear or white cleaning solution, or dust gently with a duster of soft rag.

HOW TO CLEAN PORCELAIN

Due to its densely sintered surface, porcelain is very easy to clean. Even non-glazed surfaces are 100% water resistant. Stubborn dirt can be easily removed. With the following tips, your porcelain will remain beautiful for a long time:

Make sure you dose the detergent correctly. This preserves the shine of the porcelain and prevents limescale stains. You can also use vinegar water or lemon juice to remove limescale.

  • Tea and coffee can eventually leave unsightly blotches on the porcelain. You can use baking soda or tooth cleaning tablets to remove these stains: simply dissolve in hot water and soak overnight.
  • Our porcelain is dishwasher safe. This ensures that shape and colour always remain intact, even with coloured designs. An exception to this are the gold decorations and hollow products which are not suitable for the dishwasher.
  • Because the surface of the porcelain is harder than the metal of the cutlery, remnants of the cutlery may remain. This can be seen by grey streaks on the glaze. However, these streaks can be easily removed with a special porcelain cleaner or a mild abrasive.
  • Tip for lanterns - the 'miracle sponge' (possibly photo) makes it very easy to remove black soot deposits.

If the stains are stubborn, the “miracle sponge” and “miracle stone” work best. These will help you to remove all stains.

HOW CAN I RESTORE MY PORCELAIN

Over time, depending on use, the glaze layer may lose its shine. You can also get cloths from us to place between the plates so that the glaze stays intact longer.
We offer a glaze service to restore your beloved items. For more information or questions about this service, please contact us info@pietstockmans.com or by phone on +32 89 382 362. We will be happy to help you.

Our tip: Our handmade porcelain may show signs of wear or breakage due to use. STUDIO PIETER STOCKMANS offers you the possibility to always supplement your porcelain, even if it is no longer in our collection. Please note that this is not possible for limited series or works of art.

IS THE HANDMADE PORCELAIN SUITABLE FOR OVEN / MICROWAVE?

All of our porcelain without gold decorations or the hollow products are suitable for the microwave.  Use in the oven is possible. The maximum temperature for porcelain is 280°C. The products with gold decoration and the hollow products are not suitable for the oven.

Our tip: Avoid sudden temperature changes! A temperature shock can damage the porcelain. Therefore, do not rinse hot plates with cold water, nor should you suddenly heat up cold plates.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO STACK MY PORCELAIN?

If you place your porcelain in the cupboard, round plates can simply be placed on top of each other. It is best to rotate square plates by 45° relative to the previous plate so that they are stable. When stacking, be especially careful not to scrape the matte (bottom) side over the glossy (top) side. Porcelain is very hard, and the shiny side will become matte due to contact with the matte side.
